King tides and daylight minus tides
King tides on this site are the three highest predicted highs at each published station.
Daylight minus tides are predicted lows below 0.0 ft MLLW between sunrise and sunset.
How to read a tide chart
A tide chart is a list of high water and low water. Each line has a clock time and a height. On TideHour the height is feet above MLLW, the mean lower low water datum NOAA uses for these predictions. A height below zero is a minus tide: the water is predicted to fall lower than that datum.
The clock time is the station's local time. When daylight saving time is in effect, the NOAA prediction already uses that clock.
The 30-day table lists every high and every low. The line drawn with that table uses hourly samples of NOAA's six-minute series. Read the times from the table. The line is only a picture of the rise and fall.
These are predictions from NOAA harmonic constants, not gauge readings from this morning. They are not for navigation. The methodology page states the extra rules this site applies: a tide-type label, a daylight minus tide, and a king tide.
